LIGHT SOURCE
The lightsource is the workhorse of the system generating light to feed down the fibres from a single lamp.
Various sizes are available from small 35w Tungsten Halogen units, to larger 150W metal halide powered units used for the more commercial applications.
This is the only part of the system that contains electricity and can therefore be remotely located from any water or hard to access locations. It's also the only part that requires any maintenance such as a simple lamp change.
The lightsource unit can change the colour of the light that is fed down the fibre cable, by way of a colour wheel. In most units this can be cntrolled by a simple start stop mechanism or a computer controlled DMX 512 protocol.
FIBRE CABLES
The fibre cable carries light from the lightsource using total internal reflection, (ie bouncing light). It therefore carries no electricity and contains no electrical wires. It simply bounces light down its inner core.
The different types of cable can be used for different effects from tiny starry skies to large perimeter lighting of buildings. All of our fibre cable can be cut simply by using our fibre cutters and has been designed to aid in effortless installation, and a lifetime of service.
FITTINGS
Fittings, in most cases, are the only visible part of the system. With this in mind all of our fittings are made to the highest standard using the finest materials such as 316 Stainless Steel.
The fittings main function is to hold the fibre optic cable in position and to control the beam angle given out. This can be done simply by pushing and pulling the fibre in or out of the fitting.*
